The next hole has a windmill as shown below. Gerald decides that he is never going to be able to time his shot right, so he decides to just randomly swing and hope that the ball makes it past the blades. If the end of each blade is 6 inches and the distance from the center of the fan to the end of a blade is 3 feet, what is the probability of Gerald's shot making it past the windmill? Express your answer as a percent to the nearest tenth.
Answer:
86.7%.
Explanation:
Considering the diagram, the path of the tip of the blades is a circle.
Hence, determine the circumference of the circle.
C = 2πr = 2π * 3 ft = 6π ft.
Then determine how long the blade edges are all together.
6 in * 5 blades = 30 inches
Therefore, to determine the fraction of the circumference of 30 inches, convert circumference to inches
6π ft * (12 in ÷ 1 ft) = 72π in.
Hence, the probability of Gerald’s randomly timed shot hitting a blade of the windmill
=> 30 ÷ 72π
=> 30 ÷ [72 * (22/7)]
= 13.3%.
Finally, the probability of his shot getting past the blades is then 100 – 13.3 = 86.7%.

Like a detective, I searched the nursing home corridors until I saw him in a wheelchair by the open window. His eyes were pools of blue staring out at the first rays of sunshine tiptoeing through the garden. I brushed my fingers through his snow white hair and kissed his forehead. “Hi, Grandpa,” I said. There was a deafening silence as there was every morning. Time ticked by as I talked to him and told him about my week. It was a one-sided conversation. I often wished we had spoken more before he had poor health. I held his hand and hoped that he knew I was there.

3. What is the authors' main purpose in the text? A to emphasize that restorative justice can achieve something that punishing perpetrators cannot B to show how the United States justice system is less developed than other countries justice systems C to prove that reconciliation between victims and perpetrators has better results than compensating victims D to highlight how there is no crime too terrible that a perpetrator and victim cannot achieve reconciliation
This question is about the article "Does the Justice System Neglect Forgiveness?"
Answer:
A. to emphasize that restorative justice can achieve something that punishing perpetrators cannot
Explanation:
The article highlights the efficiency of a restorative justice, instead of punitive for dealing with offenders and their victims. The article shows how in cases of minor crimes, victims prefer to be rewarded for what they have lost than to see offenders punished in a strict way. If this type of policy were approved, it would give a break to the country's prison system, which is flawed and underfunded and which cannot cope with the demand it already has.
In this case, the restorative policy is able to do what the punitive policy is not able to do, which is to make the victim more satisfied, to punish offenders with shorter sentences and not to interdict the prison system.

Friendship is a wonderful thing where two humans interact. It is built on trust dependence and the ability to rely on one another. There is a certain point however, where one so called “friend” oversteps the boundary of dependence and over relies on the other person. In this case, Lennie oversteps this boundary, becoming like a clinging parasite who can’t function while alone. Lennie knows that George dose many good things for him, but he still acts out. George not only has to sacrifice a lot for Lennie he even pre plans things to do when Lennie gets himself into trouble.
For starters, Lennie acknowledges the fact that George dose so much for him and still refuses to change. His hallucination even stated George is "such a nice fella an' good to you. But you don’t never take no care" (Steinbeck 11). Lennie knows how well treated he is by George but he still can't control himself even for his best bud. Not only did he get himself in trouble once he did it twice. This truly shows the one-sidedness of this relationship. His hallucination also noted that "when he got a piece of a pie you always got half or more'n half" (Steinbeck 12). This shows how much George cares about Lenie and would go to lengths as even sacrificing a his own pleasure for him. I know for certain that when someone sacrifices there food for you it means that they really care for you or pity you. Even after George graciously gave many things to Lennie to give him pleasure, Lennie refuses to learn or change even though he clearly sees that George is being very kind to him. He does all this for you and you just "stew the b'Jesus out of George all the time" (Steinbeck 16) His hallucination said. This proves that Lennie knows that he is not doing anything nice for George while gorge is doing all these nice things for him. Lennie is intelligent enough to notice that George is supporting him and going out of his way to be kind to Lennie, while Lennie just takes and takes and takes and repays him in screwups and bad actions. As you can tell, Lennie knows that George is doing so much for him and that he is not repaying him fairly. This proves that he is not a good friend but a pericyte.

Answer:
B
Explanation:
Got it right
The central idea of this excerpt is the Grimms collected stories about real living conditions from people they trusted. The correct option is B.
What is the theme of Grimm's fairy tales?The Grimm Brothers' original fairy tales, like the Disney adaptations we were up on, are meant to impart valuable life lessons. These tales also reveal recurring themes regarding the makeup of families and society at large.
The main point of this passage is that the Grimms did not gather their tales from peasants but rather from literate individuals they trusted. Additionally, it implies that the stories were compiled based on actual living circumstances and that the Grimms were unfamiliar with the sources of the stories. Although it is not stated in the extract, it can be assumed that the 19th century was the heyday of folk and fairy stories.
Thus, the ideal selection is option B.
