Friendship is a wonderful thing where humans interact with one another and develop a bond. It is built on trust dependence and the ability to rely on one another. There is a certain point however, where one so called “friend” oversteps the boundary of dependence and over relies on the other person. In this case, Lennie oversteps this boundary, becoming like a clinging parasite who can’t function while alone. Lennie knows that George dose many good things for him, but he still acts out. George not only has to

sacrifice a lot for Lennie he even pre plans things to do when Lennie gets himself into trouble.

For starters, Lennie acknowledges the fact that George dose so much for him and still refuses to change. His hallucination even stated George is "such a nice fella an' good to you. But you don’t never take no care" (Steinbeck 11). Lennie knows how well treated he is by George but he still can't control himself even for his best bud. Not only did he get himself in trouble once he did it twice. This truly shows the one-sidedness of this relationship. Additionally, His hallucination noted that "when he got a piece of a pie you always got half or more'n half" (Steinbeck 12). This shows how much George cares about Lenie and would go to lengths as even sacrificing a his own pleasure for him. I know for certain that when someone sacrifices there food for you it means that they really care for you or pity you. Even after George graciously gave many things to Lennie to give him pleasure, Lennie refuses to learn or change even though he clearly sees that George is being very kind to him. Moreover, he does all this for you and you just "stew the b'Jesus out of George all the time" (Steinbeck 16) His hallucination said. This proves that Lennie knows that he is not doing anything nice for George while Gorge is doing all these nice things for him. Lennie is intelligent enough to notice that George is supporting him and going out of his way to be kind to Lennie, while Lennie just takes and takes and takes and repays him in screwups and bad actions. As you can tell, Lennie knows that George is doing so much for him and that he is not repaying him fairly. This proves that he is not a good friend but a pericyte.

Additionally, George is not only being kind to Lennie, he is sacrificing a huge chunk of his life for him. For starters, Lennies hallucination retorted, this whole time "he coulda had such a good time if it wasn’t for you. He woulda took his pay an' raised **** in a ware house..." (Steinbeck 15). This shows the pleasurable life George could have had if it wasn't for the clinging weight of his parasitic so called friend Lennie. George could have had fun and lived his life worry free but he had a unnecessary responsibility witch was Lennie, that he was obligated to take care of. Additionally, Gorge even said himself that "If I was alone I could live so easy" (Steinbeck 42). This proves that George realizes what a parasitic burden Lennie is and the grim reality of the situation. This is what have could have possibly led him to killing Lennie. He finally noticed that Lennie could not change and rather than letting him suffer without him he did him a favor by ending his life. It was the last kind thing George did to Lennie. Furthermore, Lennies hallucination exclaimed that whenever there "was any ketchup, why he'd give it all to you" (Steinbeck 12). This is a perfect representation of how much George truly gives to the parasitic person he calls a friend. Lennie continuously gives his all just to get nothing- or worse than nothing- in return. Friendship is a give and take relationship that should be mutually shared between friends but in this instance we can clearly see that Lennie over stepped the boundary and takes more than what he gives. All and all, You can clearly see who is sacrificing more to maintain this toxic one sided friendship.

Answers

I thinks is a good paragraph so far but instead of putting humans interact with one another put get along with one and other and boevelop and beautiful bond . Also don’t put as you can tell just start with lennie. Also don’t start with a sentence with And around the last part of your paragraph. :) hope that helped you did really good

Here's constructive criticism.

Explanation:

So, I'll start off by saying; sorry if anything I say sounds rude. This is completely constructive and is only being said so you can learn from it.

To begin with, it just seems all over the place. I'm having a hard time telling what exactly this is supposed to be about. Try to organize things when you right, it'll make it easier for your teacher to read.

Secondly, your puncuation needs to be corrected. Go back through and try adding commas and periods (they seem the most neccesary here.)

I would add more because surely it still needs corrections outside of what I listed, but I'll only continue if you want me to. Have a great day!

Read this passage from “The Monkey’s Paw” to determine the answers to the follow-up questions.
“To look at,” said the sergeant-major, fumbling in his pocket, “it's just an ordinary little paw, dried to a mummy.”

He took something out of his pocket and proffered it. Mrs. White drew back with a grimace, but her son, taking it, examined it curiously.

“And what is there special about it?” inquired Mr. White as he took it from his son, and having examined it, placed it upon the table.

“It had a spell put on it by an old fakir,” said the sergeant-major, “a very holy man. He wanted to show that fate ruled people's lives, and that those who interfered with it did so to their sorrow. He put a spell on it so that three separate men could each have three wishes from it.”

His manner was so impressive that his hearers were conscious that their light laughter jarred somewhat.

“Well, why don't you have three, sir?” said Herbert White, cleverly.

The soldier regarded him in the way that middle age is wont to regard presumptuous youth. “I have,” he said, quietly, and his blotchy face whitened.

“And did you really have the three wishes granted?” asked Mrs. White.

“I did,” said the sergeant-major, and his glass tapped against his strong teeth.

“And has anybody else wished?” persisted the old lady.

“The first man had his three wishes. Yes,” was the reply; “I don't know what the first two were, but the third was for death. That's how I got the paw.”

His tones were so grave that a hush fell upon the group.

“If you've had your three wishes, it's no good to you now, then, Morris,” said the old man at last. “What do you keep it for?”

The soldier shook his head. “Fancy, I suppose,” he said, slowly. “I did have some idea of selling it, but I don't think I will. It has caused enough mischief already. Besides, people won't buy. They think it's a fairy tale; some of them, and those who do think anything of it want to try it first and pay me afterward.

Just as the girls are about to part from their grandmother, they realize they have not brought their papers with them and therefore cannot cross the border legally. The girls worry that if they go to the police, then Child Protective Services will get involved.

Odilia leads her grandmother and sisters into a nearby church and asks Tonantzin for help. They are whisked to a moonlit path and find themselves in front of Tonantzin. When Juanita asks if they are dreaming, Tonantzin replies, “Dreams are revelations” (358). Tonantzin tells the girls that the mother is the earth, every part of her is alive, and her faith in her offspring is everlasting. Tonantzin agrees to help the girls go home if they will give roses to the mother. Odilia assumes she means their mother. The Garza girls and Abuelita Remedios then find themselves by a misty shore.

essay for the future gender equality

Answers

Explanation:

I believe there should absolutely be gender equality. Gender equality should have always been a thing. Woman, man, or whatever people identify as should be equal. There should be "no womans" jobs or "mens jobs" there are peoples jobs. A job is not strictly for a man or a woman, jobs are for whoever is qualified. Other genders should be paid as much as men as well. Other genders are people too. There is more than just men. On the other side of gender equality, men should be able to have maternity leave as well. I know the man isn't birthing the child, but it is their child, they should get to help their significant others through it.

Each new step in science (blank) twenty seemingly (blank) facts as merely the various
manifestations of a single principle.

1-unifies...harmonious
2-reconciles...discordant
3-integrates...identical
4-undermines...erroneous
5-illuminates...consistent

Answers

Answer:

Each new step in science reconciles twenty seemingly discordant facts as merely the various  manifestations of a single principle.

Explanation:

Even though the only context we have is the sentence itself, we can safely choose number 2. This type of sentence is used when we wish to present contrasting ideas. There would be no reason, for example, for science to unify what is already harmonious, or to undermine what is already erroneous. Those ideas are redundant. It makes much more sense to say that science reconciles facts that are seemingly discordant. That is the wonder in science: to see different things as the manifestations of a single principle, which could seem, if science did not exist, impossible.

What does this show about Malian society? Write a 2-3 sentence summary about Egypt's background:please help, I've been reading sentences over and over again and i can't grasp onto it. it would be very much appreciated... Background: The regularity and richness of the annual Nile River flood, coupled with semi-isolation provided by deserts to the east and west, allowed for the development of one of the world's great civilizations. A unified kingdom arose circa 3200 B.C., and a series of dynasties ruled in Egypt for the next three millennia. The last native dynasty fell to the Persians in 341 B.C., who in turn were replaced by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. It was the Arabs who introduced Islam and the Arabic language in the 7th century and who ruled for the next six centuries. A local military caste, the Mamluks took control about 1250 and continued to govern after the conquest of Egypt by the Ottoman Turks in 1517. Completion of the Suez Canal in 1869 elevated Egypt as an important world transportation hub. Ostensibly to protect its investments, Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882, but nominal allegiance to the Ottoman Empire continued until 1914. Partially independent from the UK in 1922, Egypt acquired full sovereignty from Britain in 1952. The completion of the Aswan High Dam in 1971 and the resultant Lake Nasser have reaffirmed the time-honored place of the Nile River in the agriculture and ecology of Egypt. A rapidly growing population (the largest in the Arab world), limited arable land, and dependence on the Nile all continue to overtax resources and stress society. The government has struggled to meet the demands of Egypt's fast-growing population as it implements far-reaching economic reforms, including the reduction of select subsidies, large-scale infrastructure projects, energy cooperation, and foreign direct investment appeals.Inspired by the 2010 Tunisian revolution, Egyptian opposition groups led demonstrations and labor strikes countrywide, culminating in President Hosni MUBARAK's ouster in 2011. Egypt's military assumed national leadership until a new legislature was in place in early 2012; later that same year, Muhammad MURSI won the presidential election. Following protests throughout the spring of 2013 against MURSI's government and the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egyptian Armed Forces intervened and removed MURSI from power in July 2013 and replaced him with interim president Adly MANSOUR. Simultaneously, the government began enacting laws to limit freedoms of assembly and expression. In January 2014, voters approved a new constitution by referendum and in May 2014 elected former defense minister Abdelfattah ELSISI president. Egypt elected a new legislature in December 2015, its first Hose of Representatives since 2012. ELSISI was reelected to a second four-year term in March 2018. In April 2019, Egypt approved via national referendum a set of constitutional amendments extending ELSISIs term in office through 2024 and possibly through 2030 if re-elected for a third term. The amendments would also allow future presidents up to two consecutive six-year terms in office, re-establish an upper legislative house, allow for one or more vice presidents, establish a 25% quota for female legislators, reaffirm the militarys role as guardian of Egypt, and expand presidential authority to appoint the heads of judicial councils.
