define tense with 2 example.

Answers

Answer 1

Explanation:

Tense is the form of a verb that shows when something happened, is happening or is going to happen.[1] There are three main tenses:

Present tense: things that are true when the words are spoken or written.

Example: She goes to school. In this sentence, goes shows that it is a present tense. It suggests that she regularly goes to school.

Example: She is going to school. This says she is now going to school.

Past tense: things that were true before the words were spoken or written.

Example: She went to school. In this sentence, went shows that it is a past tense.

Future tense: things that will be true after the words are spoken or written.

Example: She will go to school. In this sentence, will shows that it is a future tense.

Tense can be shown by changing the spelling of a verb. For example, be can become am, is, and are in present tense, and was and were in past tense. In English, future tense is shown by adding will before the verb. For example, be becomes will be in future tense.

How do you think prejudice affects people who are being prejudged and people who are prejudging?

Answers

Answer:

Prejudice is a prejudgment based on inadequate knowledge. Prejudice often relies on stereotypes. For instance, a person meeting a female child for the first time might assume she likes princesses or the color pink. Prejudice can be conscious or unconscious. A person doesn’t have to realize they’re being prejudiced to prejudge others.

.

Explanation:

Prejudice is a complex problem that has led to wars, enslavement, abuse, murder, and untold suffering. Working with a therapist can help people overcome their prejudices, understand the effects of prejudice on people they love, and develop strategies for dealing with the mental health effects of living in a world filled with prejudice

Although bias might be unintentional, it can have a domino effect. After all, prejudice was responsible for the Holocaust, slavery, and the Trail of Tears. Even in a smaller scale, it's everywhere in our life, and you might not even notice it. Exposure to discrimination is a key risk factor for poor mental health among individuals who are prejudiced. And prejudiced people are unable to make diverse connections and live in "their own bubble" of the world.

Rambling typically means to make incoherent speech, usually as a fact such as jumping topics at random points with no relations or similarities between the topics.

"The professor rambled on about his life experiences, but what has that got to do with our Algebra class? "

Another form of rambling is when it is used to describe a person wandering about. Usually, it can be used to describe when one goes on a walk or stroll with no direct purpose, or destination to get too.

"My father and I would go on a ramble in the western outback, but with no clear intentions. His eagle-eyes pierced the country-side, as if he was searching for the unknown; But what was the meaning behind his long-tirade walks and disoriented behaviors? "

Narrative:
Rochelle sipped on her third mug of French roast with a twist of hazelnut as she waited for Marigold. She remembered that Marigold was always on time. So where was she? Rochelle picked up the yearbook that she had brought with her. Marigold, a girl with flaming red hair and large hazel eyes, was standing next to her in the photo. Even then, Marigold was a bit of a mystery to Rochelle.

Rochelle was lost in thought when someone tapped her on her shoulder. She was surprised to find that the hand belonged to a police officer. He asked her if she knew Marigold. When Rochelle said yes, he handed her a package wrapped in paper. Rochelle was confused and scared. Was something wrong with her friend? "Is she okay? I just spoke to her," Rochelle whispered.

"I’m her brother," said the officer. That’s when Rochelle noticed the same hazel eyes. "She sent something special for you."

"But where is Marigold?" cried Rochelle. The man calmed her and asked her to open the package. Rochelle unwrapped it. Inside was an envelope containing an airplane ticket to Barcelona and a note.

Rochelle didn’t know what to do. The officer smiled, turned around, and left. Rochelle read Marigold’s note and smiled. Rochelle remembered the day both of them had planned to go to Spain. The girl with the hazel eyes was making that dream come true.

PRESIDENTIAL AMENDMENTS

12TH Amendment- Set in place where both president and vice president are voted on independently in the electoral vote. Previously each elector cast two votes for President, the one with the most votes was the president and the person with the second most votes was vice president. Today each set is informally voted together by parties. Proposed 12-9-1803 ratified 6-15-1804.

20th Amendment- Changed the day the president took office, moved it up so we wouldn’t have a “lame duck” presidency for an extended time. It also put in place a process to replace the president if he died before he took office. Proposed 3-2-1932 ratified 1-23-1933.

22nd Amendment- Stipulated that no president may serve more than two elected terms. The maximum a person can serve is two and just under half terms. Franklin Roosevelt was actually elected to four terms before this amendment took place. Proposed 3-24-1947 ratified 2-27-1951.

25th Amendment- Cleared up Article 2 of the constitution by stipulating the process of the Vice-president taking office. Also provided the process on how Vice-presidents can be selected if they die or are removed during the term. Proposed 7-6-1965 ratified 2-10-1967.
The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, known collectively as the Civil War Amendments, were designed to ensure equality for recently emancipated slaves.

The 15th Amendment prohibited governments from denying U.S. citizens the right to vote based on race, color, or past servitude.
The 25th Amendment, ratified by the states on February 10, 1967, basically deals with the order of presidential succession and what happens if or when a president is unable to fulfill the duties of the office.

I sit at my desk listening to thunder growl outside my window. Flashes of light burst through the darkness, and wind races past my window. The thrilling combination of sight and sound conjures up visions of dragons roaring proudly, breathing fire, and soaring across the midnight sky. Dragons first fascinated me when I was a little girl. They have followed me ever since. The magnificent creatures appeared in storybooks I read in the library, paintings I saw in museums, movies I watched in the theater, and the dreams I had in my sleep. By the time I was thirteen, one question consumed me. I wanted to know if dragons ever existed, so I set out on a quest for facts.

2

As I started my research, I discovered many skeptics. Scientists presented evidence to show why dragons could not—and did not—exist. They explained that it would be impossible for dragons to fly because they would be too big. They laughed at the idea of dragons breathing fire. They pointed out that no other animal has ever done this. They said that if dragons had lived, someone would have found remains somewhere in the world. No bones about it, there were plenty of logical explanations. It would have been easy for me to accept that the only place dragons ever existed was in the imaginations of those who believed.

3

I could have given up, but I thought about my grandmother. She always told me that "people who believe that science is the answer to everything are missing out on everything else." With her words in mind, I searched some more. There were many facts that hinted that dragons may not be fictional. I noticed that cultures across the world all described dragons in similar ways. This was odd because they had no way to communicate with each other. I found dragons mentioned in more than just stories. They appeared in old legal papers, in the travel logs of Marco Polo, and in the Bible. I saw that the Chinese calendar uses a different animal each year. Dragons are included along with eleven real animals. I began to believe it was a real possibility that all of these people were talking about a creature that actually existed.

4

With renewed hope that there was some truth to the legends, I looked for new research. I found that some experts disagreed with popular arguments against dragons. They suggested that a dragon could have four stomachs like a cow. If it created stomach gases like birds, it might create enough to lift itself off the ground. This would give it the ability to fly. If it forced out air when diving toward the earth, it might release gases which could ignite into flame. When the animal died, the stomachs would release strong acids that would dissolve its dead body over time. Biologists backed up these ideas with sketches and models based on known animals. Not everyone agreed with these ideas, but many of the things we accept about dinosaurs and other extinct species started the same way.

5

I doubt we will ever truly know whether dragons existed. There may always be two sides to the fiery debate. Some will say the stories come from active imaginations. Some will believe with all their hearts that the legendary creatures roamed our ancient world. I don't know for certain which side to believe, but the sound and fury of a night like this makes me smile. It rekindles my childhood dreams and keeps the exciting possibility alive.

Which best states the main idea of the text?

(A) I have found no proof that dragons ever existed.

(B) I have found some proof that dragons may have existed.

(C) I have always wondered if dragons existed, and I hope they did.

(D) I have not been able to decide if dragons ever existed or not.
