How to find the term that will have the greatest value

The knowledge of negative and positive number is necessary here.

numbers less than zero are negative while numbers greeter than zero are positive

Negative terms in an odd exponent remains negative hence less than zero in even exponent the negative changes to positive and becomes greater than zero

For the expression aₙ = (-1)ⁿ⁺¹(5)ⁿ the teem that determines whether the expression is greater that zero is  (-1)ⁿ⁺¹. therefore

n + 1 must be even

n must be odd for n + 1 to be even hence the greatest number here is aₙ₊₁₅ a(n+15)

Eating at the all-you-can-eat buffet at your favorite restaurant currently costs $18.50, and increases in cost by 6% each year.
1. Write a function that correctly depicts this scenario.
2. How much will this buffet cost 10 years from now? Round your answer to the nearest cent.
3. How much did this buffet cost 15 years ago? Round your answer to the nearest cent.

Answers

The function of the scenario is f(x) = 18.5(1.06)^x

The cost 10 years from now is $33.13The cost 15 years ago is $7.72

How to determine the function of the scenario

From the question, we have the following parameters that can be used in our computation:

Initial value = $18.50

Rate = 6%

The function of the scenario is then represented as

f(x) = Initial value * (1  + rate)^x

Substitute the known values in the above equation, so, we have the following representation

f(x) = 18.5(1 + 6%)^x

Evaluate

f(x) = 18.5(1.06)^x

How much will this buffet cost 10 years from now

This means that

x = 10

So, we have

f(10) = 18.5(1.06)^10

Evaluate

f(10) = 33.13

How much did this buffet cost 15 years ago?

This means that

x = -15

So, we have

f(-15) = 18.5(1.06)^(-15)

Evaluate

f(-15) = 7.72

Hence, the price is $7.72

What is the relationship between xzw and wzv on a vertical angle?

Answers

The relationship between xzw and wzv on the vertical angle is as follows:

∠ xzw + ∠ wzv = 180

How to find the relationship between angles?

Vertically opposite angles are angles that are opposite one another at a specific vertex and are created by two straight intersecting lines. Vertically opposite angles share the same vertex and they are congruent to each other.

Therefore,

∠vzy ≅ ∠wzx(vertical angles)

Hence, the relationships between angles xzw and wzv  is as follows:

∠ xzw + ∠ wzv = 180 (sum of angles on a straight line)

3x + 17 + x - 9 = 180

4x + 8 = 180

4x = 180 - 8

Dominique decorates a round cake with fruits. The cake has a diameter of 16 inches. She frosts just the top if the cale. How many square inches of the cake are covered with icing?Use 3. 14 for π

Answers

The amount of square inches of the cake that are covered with icing is 201.06, calculated by using the formula (π * radius2), with π equal to 3.14 and the radius equal to 8 inches.

1. Use the formula (π * radius2), with π equal to 3.14

2. The radius is half of the diameter, divide the diameter (16 inches) by 2

3. Radius = 16 inches / 2 = 8 inches

4. Calculate π * radius2: 3.14 * (8 inches)2 = 201.06 square inches

π * (8 inches)2

= 3.14 * (64 inches2)

= 201.06 square inches

Dominique is decorating a round cake with fruits and has frosted just the top of the cake. To determine the area of the cake that is covered with icing, we can use the formula (π * radius2). Since the cake is round, we can determine the radius of the cake by dividing the diameter of the cake (16 inches) by 2, resulting in the radius being 8 inches. We can then calculate the area of the cake covered with icing by multiplying π by the radius squared. Using the number 3.14 for π, the calculation is 3.14 * (8 inches)2, which equals 201.06 square inches. Therefore, 201.06 square inches of the cake are covered with icing.

The line has a slope 5 / 4 and passes through ( − 3, 4 ). What is the equation of the line ? Select one: a. 4x + 5y + 31 = 0 b. 5x − 4y + 31 = 0 c. 4x − 5y + 31 = 0 d. 5x − 4y − 31 = 0

Answers

Answer:

b:  5x-4y+31=0

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's look for an equation of the form y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b the y-intercept (the value of y when x=0).

We are given the slope, m, as (5/4), so we can write:  y = (5/4)x+b.

To find b, just enter the given point, (-3,4), into the above equation and solve for b:

 y=(5/4)x + b

 4=(5/4)(-3) + b   for (-3,4)

 4 = -(15/4)+b

 4 + (15/4) = b

 4 + (3 3/4) = b

b = 7 3/4

The equation becomes y = (5/4)x + 7 3/4

Also written as:  y = (5/4)x + (31/4)

To match this with one of the options, let's multiply by 4 to remove the two fractions:

   y = (5/4)x + (31/4)

   4y = (5)x + (31)

Rearrange so that the expression is = 0:

4y-5x-31 = 0

Now multiply by -1:   -4y+5x+31=0

Rearrange and this will match option b:  5x-4y+31=0

A triangle that is equilateral has three equal sides and three equal angles.

Find the other two angles if angle P measures 30°?

The angles are all 60 degrees each. Two 90-degree angles are formed when the height of an equilateral triangle is drawn to the base of the triangle, and the top angle is divided into two 30-degree angles. A triangle with sides of 30-60-90 always has sides that are 1:3:2.

The 30-60-90 triangle formula for sides y is also known as y3: 2y. The angles of the triangle are always 30, 60, and 90 degrees. Given that one of the angles is 90 degrees, this triangle is always a right triangle. These angles come together to form a right-angled triangle. Find the area of triangle XYZ

Answers

Answer:

[tex] \displaystyle A _{XYZ - \text{triangle}} = 24 {cm}^{2} [/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

we have two right angle triangles

we want to figure out the area of XYZ triangle

we are given the base not the altitude (height) so we need to figure the height of XYZ to figure out the area of XYZ

in that case we can use Pythagoras theorem given by

[tex] \displaystyle {a}^{2} + {b}^{2} = {c}^{2} [/tex]

given that, c=5 and b=3 thus

substitute:

[tex] \displaystyle {3}^{2} + {a}^{2} = {5}^{2} [/tex]

simplify squares:

[tex] \displaystyle 9 + {a}^{2} = 25[/tex]

cancel 9 from both sides:

[tex] \displaystyle {a}^{2} = 16[/tex]

square root both sides:

[tex] \displaystyle {a}^{} = 4[/tex]

we have figured out the height of XYZ triangle

remember that,

[tex] \displaystyle A _{ \text{triangle}} = \frac{1}{2} bh[/tex]

we have h=4 and b=9+3=12

substitute:

[tex] \displaystyle A _{ \text{triangle}} = \frac{1}{2} \times 12\times 4[/tex]

reduce fraction:

[tex] \displaystyle A _{ \text{triangle}} = 12\times 2[/tex]

simplify multiplication:

[tex] \displaystyle A _{ \text{triangle}} = 24[/tex]

hence,

the area of triangle XYZ is 24 cm²

Determine whether y varies with x if so find the constant of variation and write the equation A. No b. Yes k= -2 and y= -2x

Answers

The equation is y = 2x and the constant of variation k = 2

Therefore, the correct answer is option d.

Here, we can clearly see that y varies directly with x, because as x increases, y increases with the same proportion and vice versa. The constant of variation, k, is the coefficient of proportionality between x and y. To find the constant of variation, we can divide the value of y by the value of x for any one of the given points.

For example, for the point (-2, -4) we have:

k = -4 / -2 = 2

So the equation relating x and y is: y = kx = 2x

Hence, the equation is y = 2x and the constant of variation k = 2

Therefore, the correct answer is option d.

Mason invested $65,000 in an account paying an interest rate of 4. 6% compounded annually. Assuming no deposits or withdrawals are made, how long would it take, to the nearest year, for the value of the account to reach $142,200?

Answers

It would take about 17.4 years, to the nearest year, for the value of the account to reach $142,200 if the interest rate is 4.6% and no deposits or withdrawals are made.

Therefore the answer is 17.4 years.

To find out how long it would take for the value of the account to reach $142,200, we need to use the formula for compound interest:

A = P(1 + r)^(t)

Where:

A = the future value of the account

P = the present value of the account ($65,000)

r = the annual interest rate (4.6%)

t = the number of years

We know the future value of the account (A) and the present value of the account (P), so we can substitute these values into the formula and solve for t:

142,200 = 65,000(1 + 0.046)^t

To solve for t, we can take the natural logarithm of both sides:

ln(142,200) = ln(65,000(1 + 0.046)^t)

ln(142,200) = ln(65,000) + t(ln(1 + 0.046))

Then we can divide both sides by ln(1+0.046) and take the power of e:

t = (ln(142,200) - ln(65,000)) / ln(1+0.046)

To the nearest year, this gives us t = 17.4 years.

I had been fording streams more and more difficult to cross and wading bogs and swamps that seemed more and more extensive and more difficult to force one's way through. Entering one of these great tamarac and arbor-vitae swamps one morning, holding a general though very crooked course by compass, struggling through tangled drooping branches and over and under broad heaps of fallen trees, I began to fear that I would not be able to reach dry ground before dark, and therefore would have to pass the night in the swamp and began, faint and hungry, to plan a nest of branches on one of the largest trees or windfalls like a monkey's nest, or eagle's, or Indian's in the flooded forests of the Orinoco described by Humboldt.[3] But when the sun was getting low and everything seemed most bewildering and discouraging, I found beautiful Calypso on the mossy bank of a stream, growing not in the ground but on a bed of yellow mosses in which its small white bulb had found a soft nest and from which its one leaf and one flower sprung. The flower was white and made the impression of the utmost simple purity like a snowflower. No other bloom was near it, for the bog a short distance below the surface was still frozen, and the water was ice cold. It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down beside it and fairly cried for joy.[4] It seems wonderful that so frail and lovely a plant has such power over human hearts. This Calypso meeting happened some forty-five years ago, and it was more memorable and impressive than any of my meetings with human beings excepting, perhaps, Emerson and one or two others. When I was leaving the University, Professor J.D. Butler said, "John, I would like to know what becomes of you, and I wish you would write me, say once a year, so I may keep you in sight." I wrote to the Professor, telling him about this meeting with Calypso, and he sent the letter to an Eastern newspaper [The Boston Recorder] with some comments of his own. These, as far as I know, were the first of my words that appeared in print.[5] How long I sat beside Calypso I don't know. Hunger and weariness vanished, and only after the sun was low in the west I splashed on through the swamp, strong and exhilarated as if never more to feel any mortal care. At length I saw maple woods on a hill and found a log house. I was gladly received. "Where ha ye come fra? The swamp, that awfu' swamp. What were ye doin' there?" etc. "Mony a puir body has been lost in that muckle, cauld, dreary bog and never been found." When I told her I had entered it in search of plants and had been in it all day, she wondered how plants could draw me to these awful places, and said, "It's god's mercy ye ever got out."[6] Oftentimes I had to sleep without blankets, and sometimes without supper, but usually I had no great difficulty in finding a loaf of bread here and there at the houses of the farmer settlers in the widely scattered clearings. With one of these large backwoods loaves I was able to wander many a long wild fertile mile in the forests and bogs, free as the winds, gathering plants, and glorying in God's abounding inexhaustible spiritual beauty bread. Storms, thunderclouds, winds in the woodswere welcomed as friends.The words that Muir uses in his essay reveal that he relates to nature as a(n)Group of answer choicesemotional professorobjective notetakerpassionate observerremoved reporter
