Why does Hawthorne employ a nighttime setting for Young Goodman Brown's journey?

Ο Α

B.

The night setting reinforces the contrast between Faith's innocence and the sinfulness of Young Goodman Brown's choices.

The author wants the reader to know that Young Goodman Brown likes to travel at night because he is an evil character.

The nighttime relates to the repeated references to dreams.

C С

OD.

The author can describe the nighttime setting more creatively than he can describe a daytime setting.

Answers

Answer 1

Hawthorne employ a nighttime setting for Young Goodman Brown's journey because, "The night setting reinforces the contrast between Faith's innocence and the sinfulness of Young Goodman Brown's choices."

Because of his intrinsic corruptibility, Goodman Brown loses his innocence, which implies that regardless of whether the events in the forest were true or not, the loss of his innocence was unavoidable.

The genuine risk comes from Goodman Brown's decision to enter the forest and meet the devil, not from an external force; Goodman Brown's decision was what put him in danger, and the devil just helps him fall. Whether or not the horrific happenings of the night are real is a moot point for Goodman Brown.

In your previous lesson, you learned about the types of viewing materials. How do we know that a material is worth viewing?

Answers

Answer:

We know if a material is worth seeing if that material does not assist in any activity or knowledge, or if it can be used for our entertainment and enjoyment.

Explanation:

Although it is not possible to know the types of viewing materials that you saw in your previous lessons, we can say that viewing materials are objects that present us with information and allow us to see things that can be very useful for us and our activities. Among these viewing materials, we can mention magazines, computers, cell phones, televisions, power point presentations, books, among others.

Within these viewing materials, we can select those that will help us in our activities, provide valuable knowledge, or allow us to entertain. Those who do not fit into this category may be irrelevant to us and are not worth seeing.

What is the rhyme scheme of a haiku poem?

Answers

The rhyme scheme of a haiku poem is a traditional style of poetry in Japan. There is no set rhyme scheme.

The most often used poetic form in the West as well as the most well-known Eastern poetic form is the haiku. Haiku is rooted in nature and the world of our senses and derives from phonetically exact Japanese court poetics that date back to the 8th century. Master poet Matsuo Basho immortalized haiku as a form. Haiku suggests a deeper level through accurate observation of moments and particular movements.

Haiku's straightforward three-line, 17-syllable structure allows poets of all skill levels to demonstrate their prowess, but mastering the form typically requires years of practice and the patience of a still eye. Over the ages, many millions of haiku have been produced, including a large number by America's Beat poets who introduced the genre to American universities and poetry communities. Japan, the United States, almost all English-speaking nations, Germany, Sweden, France, The Netherlands, the Balkan countries, and Russia all have haiku societies in existence today.

Katharina convinces the reader that she has been completely tamed when she is not only very obedient to her husband but encourages other women to behave as subjects of the men they marry.

Why did Katharina need to be tamed?Because she didn't behave within female gender roles.Because she wasn't willing to be a submissive wife.Because she is aggressive towards men.

Katharina was the eldest daughter of a man of good reputation and fortune. This would make her a girl who attracted the attention of other families and who attracted many suitors, but she behaved very aggressively and without any kind of submission to men, which made the suitors move away.

However, at the end of Act V, after an arranged marriage that she was forced to accept, she is shown to be "tamed" by her husband, as she scolds women who do not want to obey their husbands, stating that they must act as subjects, doing what husbands want without complaining.

One of Keats' five odes, 'Ode On A Grecian Urn,' is regarded as one of the finest examples of romantic poetry and focuses on art, beauty, truth, and time.

Keats thought that the truth lay not in the dry, logical mind but in the spontaneous feelings of the heart.

When crafting a thesis statement for an interpretive essay about plays, how many plays should you list in the thesis statement?

OMG, POINTS

Answers

When crafting a thesis statement for an interpretive essay about plays, you should only mention one play in the thesis statement, so option A is correct.

What to focus on in a thesis statement

When crafting a thesis statement for an interpretive essay about plays, it is generally recommended to focus on one play in the thesis statement. This allows for a clear and focused argument that can be effectively supported and developed throughout the essay. By limiting the focus to one play, the writer can delve deeply into the text, analyzing its themes, characters, and literary devices, and exploring how these elements contribute to the play's overall meaning.

While it is possible to include references to other plays in the essay itself, it is generally not recommended to include multiple plays in the thesis statement, as this can lead to a lack of focus and clarity. The thesis statement should be concise and specific, outlining the main argument or claim that the writer will be making about the chosen play.

What is main idea of poem ?

The topic, or, if you prefer, "what it's about," of a poem is its main notion. Many people find it awkward for poetry to be "about" something, but ultimately, the poet's core idea—whatever it may or might have been—is what they had in mind when they wrote the poem. In this hymn, the poet asks to be a symbol of harmony for everyone, smoking the pure essence, the Peerless Spirit, and the fatal flame to instill the will in the mind to do only what is right. How does the rhyme system affect the poem's overall meaning, late great general?

The poem is composed of iambic tetrameter rhyming couplets. Rhyming couplets are typically used in emotional poems, such love poems, but Swift uses them to create irony by employing them to suggest mockery instead of the usual emotional effect.

What kind of mood would a satirical elegy to a deceased famous commander have?

Typically, an elegy is a somber sorrow for the deceased. However, as shown by the title, Swift modifies the form for satire. The speaker's tone is scornful and caustic rather than one of regret at the death of the "late illustrious general."

THE VOYAGES OF DOCTOR DOLITTLE

By Hugh Lofting

Chapter 1: The Cobbler's Son

My name was Tommy Stubbins, son of Jacob Stubbins, the cobbler of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh; and I was nine and a half years old. At that time Puddleby was only quite a small town. A river ran through the middle of it; and over this river there was a very old stone bridge, called Kingsbridge, which led you from the market-place on one side to the churchyard on the other.

Sailing-ships came up this river from the sea and anchored near the bridge. I used to go down and watch the sailors unloading the ships upon the river-wall. The sailors sang strange songs as they pulled upon the ropes; and I learned these songs by heart. And I would sit on the river-wall with my feet dangling over the water and sing with the men, pretending to myself that I too was a sailor.

For I longed always to sail away with those brave ships when they turned their backs on Puddleby Church and went creeping down the river again, across the wide lonely marshes to the sea. I longed to go with them out into the world to seek my fortune in foreign lands—Africa, India, China and Peru! When they got round the bend in the river and the water was hidden from view, you could still see their huge brown sails towering over the roofs of the town, moving onward slowly—like some gentle giants that walked among the houses without noise. What strange things would they have seen, I wondered, when next they came back to anchor at Kingsbridge! And, dreaming of the lands I had never seen, I'd sit on there, watching till they were out of sight.
